Plasma Biofuels

green hydrogen for a blue planet

IDEA

Plasma Biofuels LLC (PB) is ready to change the way we power the world today using renewable waste to produce zero carbon Green Hydrogen (GH2). Our patented technology allows us to produce zero carbon GH2 with no emissions.  Zero carbon and zero emissions are what set us apart. All other hydrogen projects involve capturing their carbon and transporting it to some offsite location to be buried or disposed (sequestered).  We can save that time and money by re-processing the carbon and producing more GH2.

Our patented hybrid microwave plasma gasification technology creates GH2 using multiple types of renewable feedstocks. Feedstocks include timber (woody biomass), agriculture wastes (rice straw, hulls, shells and pits), plastics, MSW (Municipal Solid Waste), sewer sludge, and others. PB is targeting the woody biomass opportunities first because it allows for the faster profitability.  We have source localized feedstock to sell our GH2 and energy products throughout California.  We have access to enough timber and AG Biomass in Northern California to provide many sites with a constant flow of feedstock for decades.

MSW is another exciting opportunity that could optimize our technology to process into GH2. We hope to reduce and, in some cases, eliminate ongoing MSW landfills limited space and pollution problems.  MSW involves more homogenizing of the feedstock than wood.

Plasma Biofuels facilities are designed to process the waste materials/feedstocks and produce our own power.

Due in part to California’s mandated Climate and Zero Carbon goals, we will start locally on the West Coast where our strongest relationships and biggest opportunities are. Once established, our goal is to grow to be the most dependable GH2 producers.

MARKET

What is not working in the energy industry today?

Batteries for vehicles are only a good solution for small, short range commuting cars. Heavy trucks need a better solution. Waiting hours for a battery charge, limiting their load size because of the heavy bulky batteries, and having to deal with the limited range that batteries provide reduces efficiencies.  Buses and other large vehicles do not see the same advantages that smaller commuter cars are seeing now.

Many large companies (including Amazon and Walmart) have already switched their forklifts over from propane and batteries to cleaner running hydrogen. This provides a shorter filling time  with a cleaner, greener technology.

Historically, solar for large commercial facilities and recent NEM-3 rating change, large, medium, and smaller companies do not get the major benefits of solar. Larger facilities are restricted by how much solar they can install due to the amount of space needed; electric company’s transformer capacity can add additional delays and costs to the projects. Some companies are just requiring too much energy and the needed solar capacity is not enough to cover their costs to the utility provider. Ever-increasing problems with GRID capacities is the major reason why users are looking for alternative power sources.

Clean fuel demands for trucking, trains, planes, and ships are only increasing . Governments and the market are asking for a solution. Many studies have shown that hydrogen is the only way our country can reach goals set for 2035 thru 2050. PB will be a part of addressing those mandated changes. These opportunities for GH2 production facilities can supply fueling stations/hubs, sales to local utilities, small business plus opportunities to help companies transitioning their vehicles and businesses over to hydrogen.

STRATEGY

  1. Seven locations identified awaiting the Start-Up funding that need to complete individual site analysis.

  2. Plasma Biofuels will manage, hire, and train staff as needed to get the locations operational.

  3. Once feasibility/engineered analysis(s) are completed, we will select the best opportunity and start working on permitting and construction. The facility will operate with 16 to 20 full time positions for 24-hour operations.

    • Opportunity is measured by local feedstock availability, distance to the location of the GH2 users, zoning, permitting, traffic, and water.

    • We will secure long-term contracts for feedstocks for each location.

  4. Purchase or long-term leases using suitable property for our projects.

  5. Our GH2 and energy can be developed for more than one type of end user.

    • Onsite: Large companies will be in contract with Plasma Biofuels to process waste materials to provide GH2 into usable fuel and/or energy to be used on site.

    • Sold to a third-party fuel station/hub or to a local business not on site. We can convert waste to energy close by and send clean energy directly to their grid.

  6. Our team will own, manage, and oversee the production, sales, and extension of agreements for the various fuel and energy needs. With additional feedstock, we can add additional capacity on site.

  7. Units are modular, containerized and require ½ acre. No electrical interconnection required. 3600 G of water used per day.

  8. The 6 MW / 100 TPD facility produces 5000 kg/day of saleable GH2, 8,800 G/day of Acetic Acid, and 5 tons/day of Biochar with zero emissions. No Smoke Stack.

  9. Carbon Crediting will be available depending on feedstocks and life cycle analysis.

INVESTMENT

Plasma Biofuels is looking for opportunity zone investors. Facility costs average $65M plus/minus based on facility location, feedstock location, GH2 off-take agreements and local property/construction costs. The estimated IRR is 20-30%.

The containerized units are produced by a well know commercial manufacturer and shipped to the site for assembly. A world renowned EPC will be responsible for installation, testing and production guarantees. Local construction trades will be utilized whenever possible.
